Introducing Peony of Willow Jane.
BBC: Why did you want to open a Boutique?
PEONY: I opened my boutique because of my love for clothes and shopping. I also wanted to provide a place where women could find unique and trendy clothes at an affordable price.
BBC: As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
PEONY: As a child fashion was not my thing. I was a nerd and loved all marine animals especially dolphins. I would have loved to become a marine biologist. However I was and still am terrified of water so I knew that would never happen.
BBC: What do you like to do on the weekends? (Aside from running your fabulous Boutique)
PEONY: On the weekends it is family time! We have 2 boys so there is always a sports game to go to.
BBC: Who is your favorite fashion icon?
PEONY: I don’t really have one favorite fashion icon. I find that what I love in fashion is always evolving with the current trends. I do like to follow several fashion bloggers and influencers.
BBC: Who is a female that empowers you and why?
PEONY: Just knowing that 4 out of every 10 US based business is woman-owned is empowering. I think it’s amazing that there are so many women entrepreneurs and inspires me to see how successful so many are at what they do.
BBC: Is there a woman-owned business you would like to shout out?
PEONY: Can I give a shout out to 2 local business women? One is my awesome manager Abigail Blum. Not only does she manage Willow Jane as if it were her own business. She also has a side hustle of repurposing denim jackets @abijax and is a photographer as well @photosxabigail. The other is my dear friend Ally Ponte who has her own fitness format @experiencevibefitness. She has such a strong passion for what she does, is a breast cancer survivor and is inspiring to so many people.
BBC: What is one piece of advice you would give a woman who wanted to open a Boutique?
PEONY: Owning a boutique is a lot more then just selling clothes. It is a lot of hard work with many ups and downs. However it has also been one of the greatest experiences I have had. My piece of advice is to follow your dream. Don’t worry about what the other guys are doing. Do your own thing, be unique and find a way to stand out from the rest.
